Suizhou is well known as the "Home of Chinese Mushrooms" and "Home of Chinese Flower Mushrooms". 

With Suixian as the main producing area, the Mushrooms are of high quality, mellow taste and rich nutrition, which are favored by domestic and overseas markets and consumers. 

In 1978, Yang Xinmei, a professor of Huazhong Agricultural University, successfully planted linden mushroom in Sanligang Town of Sui County, igniting the mushroom industry "a spark". 

Suizhou mushroom grew from scratch, from small to large, from weak to strong. Over the past 40 years, Suizhou has become one of the four main producing areas of lentinus edodes in China, the largest trading center of lentinus edodes in the central and southern region, and an important processing and export base of lentinus edodes in China.

Suizhou lentinus edodes industry quickly got rid of the COVID-19 epidemic, realized the growth of production, processing and foreign trade export against the trend, and achieved green and high-quality development.

Suizhou is located in the intersection zone of the Yangtze River basin and the Huaihe River basin. The forest coverage rate of the whole city reaches more than 50%, among which the southern Suizhou county exceeds 70%. Suizhou is a subtropical monsoon climate, with sufficient sunlight, four distinct seasons, and a large temperature difference between day and night. Rich oak resources and suitable ecological environment create an ideal environment for the growth of high-quality lentinus edodes in suizhou, and the output of high-quality white flower edodes accounts for more than 50% of the country.

At present, Suizhou has 185 lentinus edodes enterprises, 26 key leading enterprises of agricultural industrialization at or above the municipal level, including 1 national level, 12 provincial level and 5 large and medium-sized lentinus edodes trading markets. It is the largest lentinus edodes distribution center and processing and export base in the central and southern region, and its products are exported to more than 60 countries and regions. The city has 3 academician expert workstations and more than 10,000 technical personnel. More than 300,000 people are engaged in the mushroom industry all year round, and the output value of the industrial chain has exceeded 30 billion yuan. Lentinus edodes industry has become the city's real advantage of characteristic industry, farmers to increase their income and become rich industry, foreign trade pillar industry.

In 2020, the standardized, large-scale and intelligent production bases of lentinus edes in the city will develop beyond normal standards. The planting scale is expected to be 260 million bags, among which 37 bases with a capacity of 50,000 to 100,000 bags, 79 bases with a capacity of more than 100,000 bags, 60 centralized rod factories with a daily production capacity of more than 10,000 bags and an annual centralized rod production capacity of more than 80 million bags. Although affected by the epidemic, Suizhou shiitake industry is still "bucking the trend". The annual output of dried shiitake is more than 70,000 tons, and the export can reach more than 600 million US dollars, both of which are significantly increased compared with the same period last year, ranking the first in the same industry in the province.
